Quality requirements for manganese ore in metallurgical industry
For steel pig iron, manganese pig iron, mirror iron ores, iron content is not limited, the total content of manganese and iron in the ore is best to reach 40% to 50%.
In the smelting of various grades of manganese alloys, there are certain requirements for the manganese content and the ratio of manganese iron in ores. Smelting medium and low carbon ferromanganese, ore manganese content 36% ~ 40%, manganese to iron ratio 6 ~ 8.5, phosphorus to manganese ratio 0.002 ~ 0.0036; Smelting carbon ferromanganese, ore manganese content 33% ~ 40%, manganese to iron ratio 3.8 ~ 7.8, phosphorus to manganese ratio 0.002 ~ 0.005; Smelting manganese silicon alloy, ore manganese content of 29% ~ 35%, manganese iron ratio of 3.3 ~ 7.5, phosphorus manganese ratio of 0.0016 ~ 0.0048; Ferromanganese in blast furnace, the ore contains 30% manganese, the ratio of ferromanganese is 2 ~ 7, and the ratio of phosphorus to manganese is 0.005.
Quality requirements for manganese ore in chemical and light industry departments
In the chemical industry, manganese ore is mainly used to make manganese dioxide, manganese sulfate, potassium permanganate, followed by manganese carbonate, manganese nitrate and manganese chloride. Chemical grade manganese dioxide mineral powder requires MnO2 content greater than 50%(Table 3.3.3), when making manganese sulfate, Fe≤3%, Al2O3≤3%, CaO≤0.5%, MgO≤0.1%; When making potassium permanganate, Fe≤5%, SiO2≤5%, Al2O3≤4%.
Natural manganese dioxide is the raw material for the manufacture of dry batteries, and the higher the MnO2 content is required, the better. For Ni, Cu, CO, Pb and other harmful elements, the general factory standard is: Cu less than 0.01%, Ni less than 0.03%, Co less than 0.02%, Pb less than 0.02%. The particle size of the mineral powder should be less than 0.12mm.
