Product Description
Laboratory use
Sodium bicarbonate can be used as an analytical reagent and also in inorganic synthesis [5]. It can be used to prepare sodium carbonate sodium bicarbonate buffer solutions. When a small amount of acid or alkali is added, it can maintain the hydrogen ion concentration without significant changes and maintain the relative stability of the system pH value [24].
Industrial use
Sodium bicarbonate can be used to produce acid alkali fire extinguishers and foam fire extinguishers. In the rubber industry, sodium bicarbonate can be used to produce rubber and sponge. Sodium bicarbonate can be used as a flux for casting steel ingots in the metallurgical industry. Sodium bicarbonate can be used as a molding agent for steel casting (sand casting) sand molds in the mechanical industry. In the printing and dyeing industry, sodium bicarbonate can be used as a fixing agent for dyeing and printing, an acid-base buffer, and a post-treatment agent for fabric dyeing and finishing; Adding baking soda to dyeing can prevent the yarn from producing color spots and can also be used as a detergent for wool.
Food processing purposes
In food processing, sodium bicarbonate is the most widely used loosening agent used in the production of biscuits, bread, etc. However, after action, sodium carbonate will remain. Excessive use will cause the alkalinity of the food to be too high, resulting in a deterioration of flavor and a yellow brown color. It is a generator of carbon dioxide in soda beverages; It can be combined with alum to form alkaline fermentation powder, or with soda ash to form civil stone alkali; It can also be used as a butter preservative. It can be used as a color protectant for fruits and vegetables in vegetable processing. Adding about 0.1%~0.2% sodium bicarbonate when washing fruits and vegetables can stabilize the green color. When sodium bicarbonate is used as a fruit and vegetable processing agent, boiling and bleaching can increase the pH value of fruits and vegetables, improve the water holding capacity of proteins, promote the softening of food tissue cells, and dissolve astringent ingredients. In addition, it has a deodorizing effect on sheep milk, with a dosage of 0.001%~0.002%.
Agricultural and animal husbandry purposes
Sodium bicarbonate can be used for agricultural seed soaking and can also compensate for the insufficient lysine content in feed. Dissolving sodium bicarbonate in a small amount of clean water or mixing it with concentrate to feed cows (adding it in moderation) can promote cow growth and significantly increase milk production [5-7].
Medical use
Sodium bicarbonate can be used as a raw material for pharmaceuticals to treat excessive gastric acid, metabolic acidosis, and alkalize urine to prevent uric acid kidney stones. It can also reduce the nephrotoxicity of sulfonamide drugs and prevent hemoglobin deposition in renal tubules during acute hemolysis, treating symptoms caused by excessive gastric acid; Intravenous infusion has non-specific therapeutic effects on barbiturates, salicylic acid drugs, and methanol poisoning. However, it is prohibited to use gastric lavage when swallowing strong acidosis, and when injected in large quantities, with renal dysfunction or long-term use, it may cause arrhythmia, muscle spasms, pain, abnormal fatigue and weakness, slow breathing, oral odor, frequent urination, urgency, persistent headache, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, etc. [25]
